GICLEE REPRODUCTIONS
These are exclusive to Canadian Model Trains, limited quantity Giclee reproductions of the original artwork. These are reproduced on CANVAS, not paper, so they look like an original piece. They should be framed, without glass, just like an original artwork. The two artists are Bill Barnes and David Oram. Bill has had a number of his works reproduced as lithographs over the years and is well known. He is working on another painting for us now. David is a fast rising new artist on the Canadian scene. He has had three of his original art pieces reproduced in lithographs (we have a few here at the show). As well, he was commissioned by CPR to paint a picture of their 2816 4-6-4 for their corporate head office. For both artists, this is their first Giclee reproduction. To show their commitment, Bill has been involved with us through the entire process, reviewing the colour transparencies and working with us through various colour corrections to truly reproduce the original. These will be produced in extremely limited quantities, not to be reproduced again in these sizes. Each picture will be personally signed by the artist and a sequence number and run size assigned. Typically lithographs are run in sizes from 150 to over 1,000 pieces and printed on paper. We have been told that the lithographic ink starts to fade on the paper after 5-7 years. In contrast, these Giclee reproductions have a run size of 25 for the largest picture, 45 for the medium size picture, and 75 for the smallest picture. The inks used in the Giclee process, printing on canvas, are guaranteed for their colour integrity for over 30 years.
