WEATHERING SERVICE
Please note that weathering fees are determined by the type of model, such
as rolling stock versus a locomotive
and the level of complexity of the weathering desired. Rolling stock
versus locomotives
each have their own specific requirements for weathering.
For models custom painted by CMT, at the time of painting, we can have it
weathered for you in light, medium or heavy weathering. When it is done in
conjunction with custom paining, weathering is included free.
For a straight forward weathering job on a locomotive sent to us, or purchased
from us, the starting price would be
$25US.
Weathering on rolling stock models is generally about $15. When you
purchase new models from us, you can have them weathered. Payment is
required in full for the model and the weathering, and we will have our painter
subsequently work on your model.
The models are typically sprayed with up to 5-6 different colours. Even
the underside of the car and ends are weathered. Depending upon whether
the model ran in the steam era or the diesel era, the weathering affects are
different. As well, depending upon the geographic area the model ran in,
then the weathering affects are also different. For example compare the
weathering of an engine running in a red clay environment vs. a light rock
environment.
Scales for weathering are HO scale and larger. There is no custom
weathering of N or Z scale pieces available.
