The cafe/bar/lounge cars and 10-5 Sleepers for various US roads are just
arriving now in October.
The
passenger car interior lights are powered by onboard batteries. The lights
are designed for "night-time" operation and the batteries have an operating life
of approximately 10 hours. They are turned on or off by a magnetic wand,
which triggers a locking reed switch.
The batteries are now in stock. There are four round watch type batteries per package. Rapido recommends one pack for every two cars ordered.
In 30 years of
modeling experience, we have never seen plastic cars, factory painted, with
lights, done to this level of perfection, at this price level !
In our opinion these are
the finest ready to run passenger cars available today. Details like these
used to be found only on scratch built masterpieces. For modelers who
wanted this level of prototype fidelity, they had to purchase brass passenger
cars, typically hundreds of dollars each.
